Rules are meant to be Broken !!
Breaking rules does happen. And we should not insist on it, as err is human. People have right to break rules (I am not sure what I am saying) of course they should be ready to face the consequences.
Now a days we see many rules or laws made to ensure safe and comfort living conditions for stake holders of the society or community. So what? I am happy to see many rules and regulations here and there. But what makes me inconvenient is, that rule is not so practical and I am sure that 90% of people avoid following it.
For example:
Traffic rules says that an Auto Rakish should carry not more than 3+1(driver) people. I had been seeing it on every auto rickshaw from my childhood. But every auto rickshaw carries minimum of 3+1+2(beside driver) any where . Without that number of passengers driver won't move an inch even. Hitech city(Cyberabad) in Hyderabad is one such place where you will find highly educated people uses autos in this unsafe manner.
I can't make driver as culprit neither Traffic police who collects fine not less than Rs 100/-.
What makes me think is Auto rickshaw driver is sure that in this route no other transport facility is present and along with that if he carries only 3 passengers he will not get enough income for the day in those prescribed charges(even though this may not be the case always). And our respected traffic police are not going to collect fines from trespassers daily.
Our system don't encourage people to cure the problem rather it only tries to give relief for that moment.
I feel that whenever we make a rule to put things on path we should ensure that rules are easy to follow than breaking them. I know its not easy and will take lot of your mind. But this will fetch very good results than the former method. Along with that there should be thoroughly worked out strategies to implement the same.
Like if we think of a solution for the above example, Govt. should create awareness among passengers about the same and it should provide an alternative transport just to create healthy competition. And of course it should make strict rules to ensure the implementation of the same rule. If Govt. is not able to do anything from its side better take off from the day and don't create inconvenience to passengers as well as to auto rickshaw guys. Its just inhumane. It really becomes terrible to sit on 1/4 seats for almost 25 Min's journey on so called nice roads with infamous traffic sense. If traffic police won't bother those guys will provide cushion seats for their passengers for sure.
You will find hundred and one examples of this kind in many places. Just be aware of it and try to do your part for the same.

11 Vows of Mahatma

If you are not able to read the text better download the images and go through them.

I know many of you would have been trying to follow some of the above Vows that Mahatma had taken/followed. But normally when we see those who follow "Values" in trouble then we think modern world has no place for Values/Morals. But its wrong. Values are ever green. They won't belong to any time or sect. You can see corporate giants like Narayan Murthy who had been a live example for the good that life with "Values" give.
Why to search who is good or bad. Let us try to be good at least if we are busy enough to do good. One thing is sure, that is GOOD is GOD, BAD is EVIL. You will accept this one day for sure.

Chanakya - the great Patriot
From last few days I have been getting mad because of the clash between my Patriotic mind and the time constraint targets that are there to be achieved.
At this time I remembered that I have the Hindi serial CHANAKYA. All episodes of the serial were compiled into 8 volumes. Each volume runs almost 4hrs. I started watching it. You can download the videos from Google videos, http://video.google.com/videosearch?q=chanakya&emb=0&aq=f#.
The serial portrays the life of Chanakya from his childhood till the time he bring Maurya Chandra Gupa into power. The serial portrays the esteem patriotism that Chanakya(Kautilya, Vishnu Gupta are his other names) possess by showing the way in which he tries to unite the whole Bharath by bringing all states into one thread.
I would say that the Struggle that happened 2000 years back, to bring all states into one thread to convey the people that from Himalayas to the Hindu Mahasamudra Bharath is one, is the most unforgettable struggle/issue that we Indians forgot. Of course it is unjustified to expect the people to remember 2000 yrs back issue who forget the things that happened just 60-70 yrs back. From the people who search for the unwanted points in the Great people and magnify them while forgetting the good things, the great great things that they had done(one reference: I had seen many social sciences teachers and intelligent students who possess bad opinion on Mahatma Gandhi, just thinking and exaggerating his bad qualities and forgetting what all he had done, how pity, isn't it? Officially we declare him as the father of the Nation, on every yellow note we print his smiling face twice and personally we don't have good opinion on him. I can't understand those unworthy critics. )
The director and producer who had bring such a great history in front of this Modern Indians needs a great applause for sure. And I have no words to praise almost every actor who lived to the fullest in their specific role.
We were taught or read that Chanakya was the writer of the 'Arthashastra, the book on Indian politics and that he was a very clever tactician or he was Prime minister of Chandra Gupta. But I would say much more than this he was a great Patriot. He was the person who identified that "Janapadoen me banta hua Bharat ek akhand Rashtra hai". The culture that we possess is the main point which make India "Unity in Diversity". By being united only we can face the foreign invasions boldly. He tried to achieve these things in his life time. He spreaded the message to the whole Bharath. Can't comment whether his words were put into practice or not by the people. His boldness to face the Great Alexander is one small point before the ideal character that he possess.
"Utthishth Vishnu Gupta! Rashtra ke samman ki raksha shasan nahi karta to ab wah shikshakon ke haath me hai, Uth soye hue bharat ko jaga!" Chanakya tries to implement the words spoken by the Prinicpal of Taxila University when he himself was a polity teacher in that university.
By seeing the serial I understand that the problems that are coming on my way are minute but I am looking at them with a magnifying glass. I learnt that it is possible to bring back the glory of Bharath to the present India. The struggle had already started to restore the glory of Bharath. Things are going in right direction. It may take some more time but it is sure that Bharath will be achieved soon.
At the end, because of the serial I got one doubt. What is the use of doing good, when it is not going to stay for long? Chanakya had tried to restore the culture of Bharath 2000yrs back, he tried to unite the states into a country, he tried to tell the then kings that being united is the only best option to tackle the invaders. And he had achieved it. But the question is how many generations does this continue? Soon Muslim invaders came to India and tried to rule the whole Bharath, tried to enforce their culture on us (I am not against to any religion, but I am against to the quest that a particular religion possess to impose it on someone else). How successful they were, I have no knowledge. Then Angrej entered Bharath, robbed of its knowledge, culture, property and converted it into India. Before Chanakya and after him many many great people came and go. In their life time they taught many good things, they did many good deeds. But how many generations they were continued is the big question that is disturbing my mind...... I am expecting the answer from the readers......
[ Please don't argue that Angrej were great, they taught us the new technology. Its just foolishness to say that Its like, "A thief comes to your house and stole all valuables from your locked cupboard. In the morning when you wake up and see your cupboard doors opening. Then you exclaim oh! that means there is a technology with which I can open the cupboard without keys. Thief is really great he taught me one new thing. This may not be a good example, but issue is almost same. Gaining a chocolate for the sake of ice cream factory is one more example. Its not the way to learn the new things. Even if they didn't rule us we could have come across what all happening in the world. ]

Freedom Struggle - Phase 2
So I hope by this time you are expecting something new from this confused mind. In last two years while this mind was busy in leading NSS IIT Roorkee with the help of great IIT Minds I discovered one new thing that has started in India. That is FREEDOM STRUGGLE – PHASE 2. I can’t say when it was started. It might be the same SEED that great patriots put in this Mother India centuries back or a fresh one laid down by any great good frustrated mind after seeing unbalanced development that is happening in the Modern India.
Confused with the title “FREEDOM STRUGGLE – PHASE 2”???
The new generation with the help of (or with the motivation from) some great personalities of previous generations started fighting for Freedom in India. Freedom from Corruption, Poverty, Red Tape-ism, Illiteracy, insensitivity, Inhumanity etc,. Thousands of NGOs started working with the aim to clean up India from Social evils. While some were successful in their endeavors many were not strong enough to go against the social evils that were/are present in the country.
So what’s now?
Luckily the new generation is not after many. It is trying to do as much as possible for the Nation or the mother Earth. Examples are aplenty. An IIM student or IIT student leaves the MNCs and go to a small unnoticed village to bring some changes in the living of people. Lot of student groups emerged in the country spreading their network faster than NGOs and are bringing significant changes in the areas they are working. Examples can be NSS IIT Roorkee, Nirmaan Bits Pilani, iVil IIT Madras list goes endless.
Forty years back a visionary program NSS – National Service Scheme started in the country while commemorating the centenary birth year of Mahatma Gandhi. Govt. started this program in lot of colleges and universities and it is running till now. Its main aim is to instill the spirit of community service in the Young while striving for the betterment of the Society. Does this program succeeded in its endeavors? It’s a leading question with single answer that it was lacking a visionary to run the program in desired direction. But this new generation will not leave the things to the Govt. It is ready to do its part. In this way I feel Freedom Struggle – 2 has been started and is going on a desired pace.
There is one more section of the country working for the betterment of the Nation along with all the above discussed sections and also some corporate companies under the name CSR – corporate social responsibility. That other section is modern SWAMIjis. There is a lot of criticism on them, in the same way as NGOs do have. Many were even convicted for their guilty. But there are some big Swamijis who are contributing a lot for the betterment of the Nation. Here also examples are aplenty.
One of them is Baba Ramdev, who had started the old movement with a new traditional flavor “BHARAT SWABHIMAN”. It aims at inducing character in the citizens through spreading the old tradition YOGA. This movement is started on a big scale and is going to rock the country soon.
The other is Swami Chidananda Saraswathi, who is head of Parmarth Niketan and also IHRF – Indian Heritage Research Foundation. His community services are also spreading across the nation, about which you can find from their websites. Ramakarishna Math, Chinmaya Mission etc., etc., this list also goes endless.
Whatever be the present situation India is going to get freedom again soon. For that every citizen of the country should be aware that India had great culture. Don’t argue with me on this topic, when the whole world is dreaming about visiting this holly land at least for once in their life time why do we always keep criticizing our Nation. We don’t accept anything that our ancestors give directly. It should go abroad and get additional flavor and a stamp saying ‘you foolish Indians! Your product was nothing, have this one, we made it, buy from us, it makes you healthy, smart etc. Yoga is just one simple example that came back to us as YOG in this pattern.

The Holiest - The Dirtiest
Hi,
From last 10days I am living in an Ashram in Rishikesh on the Banks of river Ganga Maiya. The Ashram itself is with a mission to decrease pollution of the Sacred river Ganga Maiya. Yesterday Morning at around 8am I went to take bath on the Ashram Ghat. I was astonished to see the water coming are so dirty filled with flowers, this and that which people uses in Aarthi of Ganga Maiya along with some dust that shop keepers or some one may have sweeped into the water. I waited for almost 10-15mins, got frustrated but was in very mood of taking bath, so I did in that water only. I got doubt and enquired with a localite standing behind me, he says, this is Puja time. People will be doing Puja. IS THIS THE WAY TO PERFORM A PUJA ???
In the evenings in the Ashram I am staying, Aarthi happens daily for almost 1-1:30hrs during which they strictly stop the pilgrims to leave "Aarthi" in the river. Even in other timings also it is banned to do so in this Ghat, but no security stands there, and we won't follow any rules unless there is some one to cry upon us.
I have been going through a report on Gangotri Dham. I was frightened to see that there is no central sewerage system and all toilets have been built with septic tanks. But many Buildings drain out their effluent in to the river
In Haridwar, where Kubhmela is going to happen in the 1st quarter of 2010, there are no dustbins provided in Hari-ki-Pauri, where people leave the garbage on ghat and it goes into the river when there is a wind, because of river normally there will be pleasant winds which gets polluted with this garbage. I asked shopkeepers there, they said people come in the night to clean, but after 23 months one day me with my friends went there to enjoy our night there. We were there whole night but didnot see anyone cleaning it. Road that connects Bus stand/Railway station with Hari-ki-pauri is horrible to travel. When you travel on rikshaw, that too when the puller is in not good mood, you will eperience how HELL can be, in a holy place :(
Hundreds of people or organisations are seiously working on the mission "Clean Ganga". But this mission will not complete unless we the users of it use it more sacredly. 5days back we saw some polythene sheets going in the River, me and my friend Nitish got down into the river and take off them and try to put them in dustbins. I felt so satisfied for doing that even though its very small thing for people who see from the bank.
Myself trying to be a part of the team working on rejuvenation of Gangotri, with environmental measures to stop pollution of the Holy Ganga Maiya. Just planning to takeup this project as my thesis project(may be its Big as a theisis project, but for a Cause its worth taking up).
Hoping for the best

Everyone in the hotel, were looking to us in surprise when Auntyji was blessing us.
We greeted her thanx for cooldrink and started back to campus………
This is just one more great experience for me in last 2 years. I just love it to be with them and I am lucky enough to have juniors like Puneet who care those cute angles a lot more than I do or even their parents do.
