India was great and will be in future too

“I have travelled across the length and breadth of India and I have not seen one person who is a beggar, who is a thief. Such wealth I have seen in this country, such high moral values, people of such calibre, that I do not think we would ever conquer this country, unless we break the very backbone of this nation, which is her spiritual and cultural heritage, and, therefore, I propose that we replace her old and ancient education system, her culture, for if the Indians think that all that is foreign and English is good and greater than their own, they will lose their self-esteem, their native culture and they will become what we want them, a truly dominated nation.”

The above is an extract of the speech given by Lord Macaulay to the British parliament in the year 1835.

Even Macaulay would have been surprised at the accuracy of his assessment. He would never have dreamt his strategy to be so successful. A strategy which, in 170 years, has reduced ‘The INVINCIBLE INDIA’ to the present state. We are now a country where the majority, at least in positions that matter, are thieves and beggars and not only in the conventional sense.

We now are dehumanised to a passive race symbolised by greed, selfishness and insensitivity.

It took us 170 years to reduce to this level.

Let us again be HUMAN!

Let us resolve to be selfless in what we “say” and “do”!

Let us develop within ourselves, the right mix of Character, Conviction, Courage, Calibre, Compassion and Creativity!

If we are able to do that it won’t take us long to resurrect the old INVINCIBLE INDIA that Macaulay feared so!

But when this has become the way of life for everyone, who’ll do it?

The answer is- the Stake holders- the Youth of the country. An estimate says that 70% of our population comprises of young people, less than 30 years of age. It is on their shoulders that the future rests! It is now for them to decide whether they want to continue with the present pathetic existence or want to create a society where they and their future generations can live with honesty, dignity and justice.

It’s high time now that we do something about it! Overcome the inertia and face our responsibility with a keen mind and willing heart!

So all you young people out there... let’s be up and start contributing for our Nation with a motto “Not for me but for the Nation”!

What all you have to do is be a true human being!

Be caring, be aware and come forward to take the initiative!

Try to help needy around you without expecting someone else to do that!

Why not you if someone else?

Start contributing ONLY 2 HOURS time in a week for a social cause, for people who are in need. You will realise soon that you have power to change some one’s life for the better. If we resolve to do it passionately- with all our honesty and intensity, nothing can stop us from achieving our target!
